Training

As most of you will know or have read a few friends and myself took the self-training route to paramotoring. This was hard work reading up on the subject but lots of fun doing the groundwork etc as I have already said.

So why have I become a BMAA instructor and do I still believe in the self taught route now?

First I have become an instructor to try and pass on what I know about flying and to try and keep this sport as safae as possible, as for the self taught route some people can go this way. It’s not for everyone and I would not now recommend it, as I did.

If you’re the type of person that fly’s power kites and is willing

to read up on weather law etc then it might be for you but over the past 3 years I have seen many people try and some have given up, sold their kit and gone to other sports.

That is a shame as it might of only taken a few bits of guidance to get them safely in the air. I believe that if I had gone to Mike Dakin early on I would have progressed in the sport quicker.

Anyhow at the end of the day whether you go your own way or go to a school enjoy the journey it’s a fantastic sport and can put big smiles on your face.

If you ever need any help you can always call me. I will help no matter what route you have taken.

i am not saying it would have been more fun but it would have been safer and with the amount of props we broke possibly cheaper. I would have also found out about kit and not bought some of the motors that I bought and had trouble flying.
