Pete's BMAA Experiance
I have now got a BMAA Rating I spent a few days with Mike and Kev from the Paramotor School in France. I have been there before but not to train but to fly so this time Mike had his work cut out to get ride of all my bad habits and to convince me to join an organization, the BMAA. As many of you know from my past post I taught myself and do not like being told I have to do this or that from anyone. Especially those whose interest is gliding and think that power is only for when the weather is wrong to free fly.
Anyhow Mike first gave me the exam to do and I managed to get 76% a pass (just ) but then he took time to go through all the answers to teach me the other 24% and time to teach me anything else that was not on the paper but he thought I might need to know. We then went out and done the 30km flight and spot landings etc. All the time he showed me things like power take offs, setting up a speed bar and much more. After I passed he gave me all the relevant forms to join the BMAA and to take out insurance all in all it cost me less than my CP and was a lot more fun. While I was there I watched him teach two complete beginners they went through a lot of theory, tandem flights and hours of ground work both instructors were very helpful and encouraging and gave 110% all the time. The days are long and hard so you need to be fit before going. Anyone who wants to learn to paramotor it’s the only way to go. I am now thinking of doing a micro light licence with the BMAA. A big thanks to Mike and Kev its refreshing to meet other petrol heads.
