Kevin

Many words have been used to describe Kevin Rymer-Craig. Some people describe him as urbane, debonair, a ladies man. Others speak of him as a man with a dog on a string.

Kevin was as passionate about his flying as he was with his women, and this came through in the way he taught. Kevin’s dry humour put his students at ease, through this and his assured manner he was able to coax them past their initial fears and off into the wide blue yonder. In his role as an instructor, and as a friend, he offered advice and help without agenda, generously sharing his experiance and knowledge.

While he enjoyed a beer as much as the next man, he was always an ardent promoter of safety and the embodiment of the Lemming ethos - a bad boy of paramotoring when feet firmly on ground and pint tightly gripped in hand, and a conscientious and thorough pilot when in the sky.

Kevin leaves us an invaluable legacy (other than Freaks), to follow the ideal of the Lemmings ethos. We must party hard, snort pepper, get lost in foreign towns and make love to beautiful women (that includes the female members) but we must also take our flying seriously, strive to improve, and become the best pilots we can.

To sum up Kevin and his life, we must turn to his own words following the loss of that other mad bugger, Julius.

"Flying is in my blood, it has been since the age of 7 when I had my first flight
in a hot air balloon. I grew up with balloons and when old enough, became a balloonist myself. Freedom in flight was properly found 11 years ago when I was introduced to paragliding,or so I thought. It was infact, 5 years ago when I turned to paramotoring that I found exactly what I was looking for in flight...Ultimate freedom.

The ability to go anywhere and explore from above, to fly high and low, to fly fast and slow. To play hard and experience the sensation of both positive and negative G.

I've flown over mountains, sea and country side. Ive dragged my feet though miles of sand on beaches and across water on lakes. I can take off from anywhere I want and land on six pence. The sky is the medium I play in…it is truly awesome and I can't get enough of it. I'm not alone in what I do and how I feel, there are others like me and in our small sport we are family.”

We'll miss you mate.
